the cottage is a little grade II listed house, at the end of
a georgian terrace, 300 yards from the quay of the
historic harbour village of charlestown. the highest
spec of the cottages, it is set back from the
bustle of the village by its long path and lawn, this
beautiful cottage is decorated to the exquisitely high
standards you would expect from us.
the cottage sleeps 4, in seaside bliss.
built in the late 1700's, the tiny harbour village of
charlestown is largely unchanged and has been granted
UNESCO world heritage status.
the beaches, either side of the quay, are so close a
toddler can make it. it is an easy stroll over the quay's
lock gate to the restaurant, the pub, the wine bar, the deli,
the cafe, the museum, the antiques shop and it is
a 10 minute walk to the supermarket.
or you might like to stay at home in your lovingly planted
south facing garden and have some great grub delivered.
charlestown is approximately 10 minutes from both the
eden project and the lost gardens of heligan. it is also
ideally situated for visiting the maritime museum
in falmouth, the tate at st ives, and of course, padstow.
the airport at newquay and our closest surfing beach,
watergate bay, are both a 20 minute drive and it is
a 10 minute drive from the main line train station.
there are two bedrooms, a king and a small double. the
cabin bed in the smaller bedroom would not be out of
place on a falmouth packet (ship) a good reason to the
visit the maritime museum. the cabin bed is a tad tight
for 2 fully grown people, unless of course they are very
friendly ! both bedrooms have style, comfort and
attention to detail.
the sheets are the most fabulous egyptian cotton percale.
the duvet, pillows and towels are the softest you can find.
this cottage sees us bring together our eye for detail and
design. it also houses some of david's favourite finds !
the slate floored kitchen (heated) has all the modern
appliances you would expect, ceramic hob, electric oven,
fridge, microwave, dishwasher, Belfast sink,
WiFi and hopefully everything else you might
need. the washing machine, tumble dryer, overhead
airer, belfast sink, iron and ironing board are in the old
laundry, the largest of the three outbuildings. the log
store and the original loo ( working ) are in the others.
maybe dine in cosy candlelight at the table in the sitting
room, warmed by the wood burner or catch the sun
rising with an alfresco breakfast in the back courtyard
and maybe supper with the sun going down
in the front flower garden.
the oak floored sitting room has a tiny sofa for two, with
a pair armchairs beside the wood burner. the television
is smart, and there is a digital radio/CD.
the bathroom, with its ceiling open to the rafters has a
cast iron bath coupled with a powerful overhead shower
and the softest towels to wrap up in
after a good long soak.
there are all sorts of things you might like to use if you
are bringing preschool kids to the cottage such as a
buggy, socket covers, anti door slammers, a baby
monitor, a steriliser, a changing mat, stair gates, a high
chair, a play mat, a travel cot with sheets and
waterproof mattress protectors, plates and bowls,
tumblers, knives, forks and spoons, a potty, a baby bath
and a hand held food whizzer.
we do not allow animals, nor smoking.
parking is easy and free.
if you would like to bring friends, parents or parents in
law, but want to give them (and you ! ) a bit of space,
the studio is available for short stays all year round
and is just down the road.
our cottages are wonderfully close to each other
but not so close you can't breathe
and we can sleep up to 24.
do let us know if you'd like some great grub when you
arrive, likewise the night you leave or maybe a brilliant
breakfast box for your first morning?
if you'd like our wonderful therapist to visit for some
spa at home just send us an email.
